Sardinia ( the North-East)The North and North-East of Sardinia are one of the most attractive sailing areas in the western Mediterranian Sea. Only a few miles from the Southern Cap of Corsica you can find an area full of islands, bays and harbours. The word "Costa Smeralda" is known world-wide. The growing tourism with it's negative concomitants hasn't stopped by this area.
During the season the prices in nearly all Sardinian harbours are growing into unbelieveable hights. These prices aren't able to be payed by normal tourists.
In the Maddalenen-Archipelago and the connected islands (Parco Nazionale dell'Archipelago di la Maddalena) there are complex "sailing-", "anchor-" and "place" regulations. There aren't less than 9 different zones with different regulations. From the total driving- stop to the anchor-bay which you have to pay for. Hundrets of anchor-bays, often sand-or kraut-grounds. Bays on the mainland-side are cost free. Staying at the islands cost 1.50 Euro per ship-meter and night.
The water-quality in the summer time isn't very good because of the many motor-boats and ships. The water isn't clear any more. It's milky water. A look under water can show you the environmental pollution and often it looks like in a rubbish bin.
Remarkable is, that the drivers of the motor-boats aren't controlling their speed and also in small passages they are going at full speed.
Are you able to visit this area not during the high season, just do it!
